This page displays timely Men’s Club notices covering important issues, events, news and governance.  The President’s bi-monthly articles, as published in the Stonebridge Exchange, are repeated.

Community Appreciation

  • On The Charitable Contributions section of the Community page, we discuss the results of our Golf Tournament and other fund raising events.  Organizations we have supported are listed and described in detail.  We proudly share feedback received from our sponsors and recipients of our donations.  We had continued our charitable outreach in the face of covid restrictions that hade curtailed some events.
  • The Men’s Club created the Prostate Cancer Committee in September 2022.  Other than fund raising, the most important committee function is the Prostate Cancer Support Group that  meets monthly.  The group gathers together for support and to review diagnosis, treatment options and pioneering research.  Join us the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the aerobics room.

2025 PROGRAMS

Our year began when police detective and historian James Calaski enlightened us about the 88 years-ago Hindenburg disaster. In February we learned all about our town from Monroe Mayor Steven Dalina.  Jointly, in March, with the Veterans Club we heard from ex-Vietnam pilot and POW James Drummond.  Also in March we enjoyed our annual breakfast and learned about Sidney Poitier’s life from Sal St. George.  In April we will enjoy the life and music of Carol King, presented by our own Larry Wolfert.  And in May we will enter outer space with astronaut Bob Cenko. August 11 will mark our annual Golf Tournament, raising several thousands for local charities.  We will also have our annual trip was to a Yankee/Met farm team game.  Our own Trivia host, Roy Cohen, will challenged our intellect at our June annual meeting.

2024 programs

January began when local expert John Katerba related the history of Monroe Township.  In February we enjoyed Motown, Doo-Wop and Rock sounds from Jerry Spathis.  Kicking off spring, we heard how Jim Bouton changed the popular outlook about baseball players.  April’s annual breakfast was accompanied by the life, time and sounds of Simon and Garfinkel.  In May we heard about the romance and tribulations of the American cowboy. Our own Trivia host, Roy Cohen, challenged our intellect at our June sub supper.  In July, we learned about the legends who played at Harlem’s historic Apollo theatre.  August was a busy month when our annual golf tournament, with 80 players, raised thousands for local charities and the annual trip was made to a Yankee/Met farm team game.  Another tradition led to 50+ members visiting Freehold Raceway for lunch and gaming in September.  The Jersey Devil folklore, scary to all NJ residents, climaxed September.  The annual  ‘Octoberfeast’ BYOB celebration was accompanied by clips from comedic legends.  In early December we held the annual holiday dinner and were entertained by a Don Rickles presentation.

‘2025 Appeal to Club Members from our President’

Spring is almost here, and I hope that all of you and your families are well. Just as election season for our community board is here, so is the election of your Men’s Club Board. We are actively searching for volunteers to fill three positions on our Men’s Club Executive Board starting with our next membership year on July 1. Our Board consists of seven Officer positions that require membership voting. Four of our Officers have already committed to serving an additional one-year term and, like all other nominees, will be voted on at our June meeting. However, this leaves three vacancies that need to be filled.

Like every other club and committee here at Stonebridge, the Men’s Club relies entirely upon the efforts of its volunteers. Everything that we do, from our enjoyable monthly entertainment meetings to activities such as the baseball and golf outings to our fundraising efforts, only happens because our members have volunteered. What we can provide for our members and our community depends upon the willingness of our volunteers to contribute their time and effort, and if we don’t have the volunteers, these things simply will not happen.

Serving on our Board does not require an extraordinary amount of time and effort and will give you the opportunity to help in leading a Club that enhances the quality of life here at Stonebridge and in the community-at-large. We are calling on you, our members, to consider serving on our Board. It will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience from which you will derive great deal of satisfaction.

If you have an interest in volunteering, we are eager to speak with you. To learn more about our open positions, please contact any of the following Nominating Committee members. It’s a no obligation, no stress opportunity to learn more about joining a great team.

We look forward to hearing from you!
