Dear Men’s Club Members,
Since my last correspondence I hope that everyone is staying well and safe. Although we cannot get together in person in the clubhouse, your Board continues to seek and present entertainment for you via Zoom video conferencing.
Activities
Our July 28th meeting featured guest speaker Ron Blomberg. He was the first major league designated hitter back in 1973 and played for the New York Yankees. He also discussed his book, Designated Hebrew, and brought to the presentation his warm southern charm and hospitality. Ron made you feel like you were sitting around with a bunch of guys, just shooting the breeze. Members who attended were treated to a great evening and a lot of positive feedback was received on this event.
Our August 24th meeting featured comedian Mike Marino (no relation) who had last performed at our 2018 Holiday Party. Mike kept us laughing with his “Jersey attitude”, his thoughts on “Making America Italian Again” and on what he would do if he were president. In a hysterical bit about self-checking out at Walmart, he said he should get an employee discount employee benefits and even a shirt and name tag for being put to work by the world’s largest retailer. If you were not able to participate, you missed a great evening of laughs which I think we all needed.
Thanks again to the many members who joined us for these two special events, as well as to Ira Cutler, our VP of Activities, for putting them together.
Your Men’s Club continues to meet regularly by video conferencing. We are in the process of securing a speaker as well as another comedian for a future date. We continue to look for speakers and entertainment to present to our members. If anyone would like to suggest an interesting speaker or entertainment for the club, please contact Ira Cutler at smc08831.activities@gmail.com. Also, we had a request from a member to hold a sports discussion group on Zoom. Please contact Ira on this as well if you would like to sign up. If we get enough interest, more info will follow.
As stated in my previous correspondence, membership renewal requests for the 7/1/2020 – 6/30/2021 year continue on hold until we can meet in-person and provide onsite entertainment for the membership.

In Closing
As always, thanks to the entire membership for their support of the Men’s Club.We continue to welcome volunteers to serve on our various committees and welcome inquiries on different roles.
To end on some positive notes, there is still some summer left to enjoy, and construction will begin in the clubhouse.
Be well, stay safe and I look forward to seeing all of you soon.
